What I Like About AMOSIJOY Canister Filter

1. Extremely Quiet

The first thing I like most about this canister filter is its quiet operation. Once you set it up and run it, you’ll hear only whispering sounds, with noise from the filter being less than 30 decibels. This makes it perfect for a bedroom. Why is this possible? Well, it’s because the filter consumes only 8W of power. Additionally, the motor of the filter is designed well to ensure adequate water flow while preventing any residual air from accumulating inside.

2. Enough Space Available To Add Filter Media Of Your Choice

The AMOSIJOY Canister Filter’s dimensions are 12.2 inches by 7.9 inches by 6.1 inches.

Compared to similar canister filters, such as the Marineland Magniflow 160 GPH, which measures 12.2 inches by 9.7 inches by 13.62 inches, you can see there isn’t much difference in size between the AMOSIJOY and other high-end canister filters in its category. This means you get ample container space to fill with the filter media of your choice.

By default, the filter comes with a filter pad (which includes sponges and bio balls). However, there’s enough room to add your own bio media and other filtration layers like the carbon or resin layer to enhance the filtration process. Overall, this filter provides sufficient space to accommodate all the mechanical, chemical, and biological filtration needs of your fish tank water.

3. Easy To Use And Low Maintenance

Another great feature of this canister filter is its ease of setup. The initial setup only takes about half an hour to an hour. Then, with every water change, handling the filter becomes easier and easier. You can easily remove the filter media and put them back in without much hassle. Also, there are slots on both sides of the canister filter, making it convenient to carry for cleaning.

Considering the price of the AMOSIJOY canister filter, it is quite durable, being made of high-quality ABS plastic. The hose that comes with the filter feels a bit light and is more prone to kinks (bends), which can reduce water flow. It’s not a big deal though because you can separately buy a high-quality hose. One thing I would highly recommend doing once you get the AMOSIJOY canister filter is to soak the hose in warm water, especially if it comes stiff (warming the hose would make it more flexible.) However, overall, this canister filter is built to last long with normal usage.

What I Didn’t Like About AMOSIJOY Canister Filter

1. The Big Size

The filter has large compartments, allowing you to add the filter media of your choice. However, this can be challenging if you have limited space around your aquarium. As an external canister filter, it needs to be placed outside your tank, below the water level. You need to carefully plan its placement to ensure it doesn’t disturb the overall appearance of your fish tank.

2. Motor Is Not Powerful

It would have been great if the motor were a bit more powerful. The main issue with this 8W AMOSIJOY Canister Filter is that it must be installed correctly below the fish tank water level. Otherwise, the filter won’t perform properly. This is because the filter relies heavily on gravity for proper water flow, in addition to its motor power. It’s recommended that you place the canister filter at least 70 cm below the fish tank water level.
